By now, you might be aware of the shooting event that occurred sometime early this morning near Habitat Orlando & Osceola’s Butler’s Preserve community. At this time, we have very little information, as it is an active investigation by area law enforcement.

Butler’s Preserve is not a gated community and therefore anyone from the general public can legally come through the neighborhood. We are encouraging residents to work together and alert law enforcement and each other when they witness suspicious activity.

No neighborhood is immune from crime and in every community large and small, everyone must do their part to help deter criminal activity. In light of today’s events, we are planning a safety and crime prevention event with local law enforcement for residents of the Butler’s Preserve community and the surrounding area.

No matter who we are or where we come from, we all deserve to be safe. We deserve to feel strength and stability day after day. We deserve to know that we have the power to take care of ourselves and build our own futures. At Habitat for Humanity of Greater Orlando, this is what unites us.

Please know that we are doing everything in our power to unite the community.

Sincerely,
