Gilbane Building Company makes it a point to support organizations that share the same values.

“Our core values of integrity, toughmindedness, teamwork, dedication to excellence, loyalty, discipline, caring, and entrepreneurship align perfectly with Habitat for Humanity,” said Shane Burnsed, Area Manager for Central Florida with Gilbane.

Gilbane, a national construction and facility management company, works with Habitat for Humanity affiliates. The Orlando office of Gilbane Building Company has supported Habitat for Humanity Greater Orlando & Osceola County over the years in a variety of ways. Most recently, Gilbane generously donated $52,000 to support affordable housing in Central Florida.

“Offering a hand-up and providing safe and affordable homeownership is vital to our citizens and our local economy’s well-being,” said Burnsed “… We feel that this knowledge and personal investment will help build substantial communities for generations to come, which as a 150-year-old family-owned company, we are passionate about Gilbane’s core value of caring is at the heart of our community commitment.”

While Gilbane’s business involves constructing new buildings and infrastructure, the company’s goal is to also improve communities through volunteerism, corporate giving, and meaningful partnerships.

“Habitat’s volunteering opportunities have been a great opportunity for team building,” Burnsed said. “After volunteering, Gilbane employees leave not only with a sense of pride and excitement, but also with a desire to do more. Our caring core value is embedded in our teams, who are dedicated to contributing to our neighbors’ overall quality of life through active involvement in many charitable, educational and local organizations.”

Gilbane knows that constructing a house also means building up faith, hope, confidence, and strength in their communities.

“Habitat for Humanity’s impact on the affordable housing crisis is only as big as the support it receives. Gilbane understands that as the demand grows, so does the opportunity to become a part of the solution,” Burnsed said. “Whether sharing our resources or professional expertise, we are committed to supporting Habitat and the goal of building safe, economical homes throughout the world, Central Florida has been deeply affected by the pandemic, exacerbating the need for affordable housing. We can all come together to turn around a grave situation, to use our skills, time, and funds to make meaningful impact on our neighbors in our local communities.”

Burnsed closed by stating “The Habitat for Humanity experience is deeply gratifying because of the direct benefits on families. Nothing feels better than to end a day giving, knowing that what you have completed will positively impact the community for years to come.”
