Trey and Carrie Vick in the Air Force.

V 3 Capital Group & Strive Senior Living are sponsoring Habitat for Humanity Greater Orlando & Osceola County’s Stars & Stripes: A Veterans Day Build. During a tour of our Silver Pines Pointe community, we asked leaders Trey and Carrie Vick how our mission resonates with them.

Trey Vick is CEO of V 3 Capital Group, a commercial real estate acquisitions and development firm that also provides brokerage construction and property management services throughout the state of Florida. Carrie Vick is president of Strive Senior Living, made up of eight communities that focus on assisted living and memory care.

The husband-and-wife team met during their time in the U.S. Air Force. They said they sponsored our Stars & Stripes event to continue their support of the veteran community.

“Carrie and I both got out of the military in 2004 and have really appreciated opportunities to be part of the veteran community and to support initiatives that take care of those that have served the country,” Trey said. “We have veterans in our companies and veterans we do business with, so anytime we can partner with a group that honors veterans we want to do that.”

Helping seniors

The Vicks were happy to hear that Habitat Orlando & Osceola shares their passion for helping older adults.

“At Strive… we help seniors that are no longer able to live in their homes,” Carrie said. “What you are doing here is allowing seniors and their loved ones to age in place.”

Habitat Orlando & Osceola’s mission, “Seeking to put God’s love into action, by bringing people together to build homes, communities and hope”, resonates with the Christian-centered company.

“We are given a blessing so that we can go out and bless others,” Trey said. “I also think about the early church, and where people really put their resources together to really expand Christianity in a world that was brand new to it, and so this is just the continuance of that.”

‘Getting our hands dirty’

The V 3 Capital and Strive teams are looking forward to volunteering on our Stars & Stripes build site in November.

“It’s great team-building,” Trey said, “but it’s also sort of us showing how important it is to give back in the community. It’s not always about just writing a check and attending an event, but sometimes it is about getting our hands dirty and getting into the community and doing something direct.”

The Vicks said they supported Habitat Orlando & Osceola because it is efficient and focused on giving people the tools they need to succeed at homeownership and beyond.

“It’s the principle of teaching somebody how to fish instead of giving somebody a fish,” Trey said. “This organization believes in that, and every one of us as business leaders and community leaders should find a way to engage our resources, our human resources into the community to make a difference.”
